Junoon..Kuch kar dikhane ka!!

Rarely does a show come across on tv which actually represents all the forms of music and gives an equal opportunity to all the major genres in India (sufi, folk, bollywood) to present themselves to an audience which has very or infact zero knowledge of the different genres of music in the Indian subcontinent excpet for bollywood.Junoon is one fo those exceptions that comes on ndtv imagine and the idea behind this reality show is unique and takes lots of guts for the producer and the channel to present genres which are not at al popular.Earlier if someone would have told me to listen to Sufi , i would have laughed it off as some rubbish but now after listyening to it, u get an all new feeling..as the say goosebumps!!U get so into the emotions in the song that u feel ur in a diff world.I recommend that every one watches this show, junnon .. kuch kar dikhane ka, which come on ndtv imagine , and realises the depth and emotions that the other various forms of music in India atleast have..

Just to help people out with wad sufi and folk is all about ill write a few lines about each..

Sufi: It's generally observed that the lyrics of the verses are in such a way that the depict god as the lover of the worshipper. Sufi poets write from the point of view of a female in love with her lover (god).Sufi music is extremely popular throughout the world especially in India and Pakistan. some noted and famous sufi singers from the 2 countries are Nusrat Fateh ALi Khan,Rahet fateh ALi Khan,Abida Parveen, Wadali Brothers, Hansraj Hans. There are even popular sufi rock bands such as Junoon (pakistan).Sufi music is spiritual and soothing

Folk:The original meaning of the term "folk music" was synonymous with the term "Traditional music", also often including World Music and Roots music; the term "Traditional music" was given its more specific meaning to distinguish it from the other definitions that "Folk music" is now considered to encompass.Folk music can also describe a particular kind of popular music which is based on traditional music. In contemporary times, this kind of folk music is often performed by professional musicians. Indian folk music is diverse because of India's vast cultural diversity. It has many forms including bhangra, lavani, dandiya and Rajasthani. The arrival of movies and pop music weakened folk music's popularity, but cheaply recordable music has made it easier to find and helped revive the traditions. Folk music (desi) has been influential on classical music, which is viewed as a higher art form. Instruments and styles have impacted classical ragas. It is also not uncommon for major writers, saints and poets to have large musical libraries and traditions to their name, often sung in thumri (semi-classical) style. Most of the folk music of India is dance-oriented.
